Take in the gorgeous garden and wonderful location as you soak in the hot tub at this fantastic bungalow. it’s on a quiet residential street just 1 mile from sandy crinnis beach in the village of charlestown on the rugged south cornwall coast, perfect for a family seaside holiday.
the bungalow is immaculate inside and out. go into the hallway, with a handy wc off, and through to the lounge/diner – a large, light space with big comfy sofas, bold prints on the walls, a smart tv, a modern electric fire, and a dining table. through the glass doors is the contemporary kitchen, with light cupboards and décor and an island for prepping food or sitting and chatting. there’s another table and chairs in here, great for kids’ teatime. you’ll also find a utility room off the kitchen for doing your laundry. in the other wing are the three stunning bedrooms. one can be a super-king or a twin, there’s also a double, and a king with an en-suite shower room, and a family bathroom. patio doors in the king lead out to the garden – a private haven with a luxurious hot tub (available apr-oct).
head to charlestown’s historic harbour – you may recognise it as the filming location for several tv programmes and films. it’s also a unesco world heritage site and will make you think you’ve gone back in time to the 1700s with its incredible old sailboats. book a boat trip from the harbour, hire a kayak or paddleboard, or explore the village’s pubs, restaurants, cafes, shops, and galleries or visit the wonderful shipwreck treasure museum and shingle beach. just along the coast is crinnis beach, a long, sandy beach with a disco hut where you can fuel up before heading on a lovely walk.

Treat your family or friends to a taste of the high life when you stay at this splendid, detached house on the impressive minterne estate. sleeping 16 guests and offering dog-friendly accommodation, the eight-bedroom abode boasts elegant accommodation. outside, there is a private garden with a hot tub, as well as access to 27 acres of magnificent, shared grounds, plus a tennis court and outdoor pool during the warmer months.
enter via the impressive front door and head into the kitchen/diner to make a fresh cup of coffee and decide who is going to prepare today's feast. serve up in the grand dining room with the open fire crackling, then gather in the magnificent lounge to light another open fire, play games or watch the smart tv. a wc and a utility room with a shower are also downstairs. stairs from the kitchen and a spiral staircase from the hall lead to the first floor. here, there are two king-size bedrooms and a super-king-size, which adjoins a single bedroom and has an en-suite bathroom. the single can be accessed from the landing and there is an impressive family bathroom. another super-king-size and a single are on the second floor, together with a family bathroom, a twin room and a family bedroom with four singles. this has a smart tv, an en-suite shower room and two extra pull-out singles making it a great dormitory for children. there is some restricted head height due to the sloping ceilings. spill out into the garden to dine in the sunshine or bubble in the hot tub. explore the grounds and make the most of the shared facilities.
stroll 1.5 miles into cerne abbas, which is famous for its great chalk giant carved into the hill. have a day out to historic dorchester, 9 miles away, or sherborne where you'll find two castles and a lovely abbey. enjoy free daily access to minterne gardens between 10am and 6pm.

This family-friendly lodge provides the ultimate cornish bolthole for you and yours to spend quality time together. located on the notter mill country park complex with fun facilities, it’s in notter bridge, 3.5 miles from saltash. suited to a group of friends or family, it makes a great spot for a multi-generational break with accommodation all on one level. there’s plenty to do on the complex itself with a shared kids’ play area, tennis court and swimming pool (open end of may to early september) and you have your own private hot tub to while away the hours in – relaxing by day or stargazing by night.
this lodge-style cottage has a wonderfully spacious feel and is bright and airy, giving it a relaxing and open vibe. the open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen has a double-height ceiling, with an open fire in a feature roof-height brick chimney in the comfortable lounge area, slightly off to the side and with access to outside. there’s room for all of you at the modern dining table which is next to another external door and also adjoins the contemporary kitchen which has all mod cons. you’re sure to sleep soundly in the wonderfully calm king-size bedroom with light decor and furnishings. the remaining bedroom is a triple with bunks and an extra single. outside you have a private furnished patio with hot tub sheltered by a wooden gazebo, plus shared lawns.
there’s plenty to keep you occupied here. there’s even a pub within 500 metres for those nights when you don’t want to cook. the river lynher runs past too, so wander its banks looking out for wildlife. it’s an excellent base for touring cornwall, both inland and along its rugged coastline. the national trust has offerings in the area: antony, an 18th-century house in landscaped gardens (13miles); and the tudor house and impressive estate of cotehele (9 miles).
